M-' L &. H HUNING. t 1, i P, A Pathetic Border Funeral. It was a touching sight to see how ihc boys stood around the dead body of Briggs and endeavored to bide their emotion and failed. Ti.e tears ran down the face of Arkan saw Bpb like rain off the gable end of a corn crib, a id Ted Williams and Jim Henderson and several more bowed their heads, while their forms shook with the sobs they would not allow to escape. The boys dug a grave on the banks of the Brazos river, and that night as the clouds drifted away and the moonlight fell upon the snow cov ered ground and sparkled the ice laden limbs of the forest trees, we laid poor Briggs down in his narrow resting place. The only requiem that was sung was the roar of the turbid Brazos as it surged along on its way to the sea a mass sung by nature. The young man Gordon Law rence, who was arrested in female disguise at the Exhibition, was pre Hsented before the City Court on charges of insulting behavior and i vagrancy. Public exdtement ran high, and from before ten o'clock until fairly late in the afternoon the edtrance to the police station in Little Collins street was blocked by a crowd of spectators, who gazed anxiously at the prison van in the vain hope that the prisoner might at any moment alight from it.
