I lived near Mr. Haync for two years after tiis removal to Richmond county, Ga., and, though but a youth, such were the peculiar personal traits of the poet that they made a lasting and most pleasant impression upon my mind. In person Mr. Hayno was of slight, almost ethereal, build. His hair was as black as a raven's wing, his complexion pale, his eyes black as his hair, and his mouth denoting gentleness and sweetness. I well remember how his sad smile would flit forth like a benediction when the slightest courtesy was shown him by strangers, or even the dusky servants of his household. His voice was gentle as the warm south wind which soughed through the long pines that stood like sentinels around hi...

How the Seductive Liquor is Made Ef fects Upon the DrinkerThe Terrible Keaction Physical- Effects Upon the French Army A Curse. Absinthe is supposed to be made in France and Switzerland, and this supposition is based upon the fact that "Somebody et fits" appears amid a lot of French on the label, -with the name Paris and a red seal with a French in scription ornamenting the cork. Swiss ab sinthe is said to be the be6t, but whether any of the good kind ever gets to this country is unknown. The absinthe is made by pound ing up the leaves and flowering tops of dif ferent species of wormwood and macerating them in alcohol. After soaking, the mixture is distilled, a little aniso oil is added, and the emerald liquor obtained is the real absinthe. When tumeric and indigo and blue vitriol en ter into its composition, as it docs in adultera tions, then it...
