But ho rallied, and at last accounts was quite comfortablo, though it is supposed that ho cannot livo a great vnilc. Last Saturday, just after tho publication or tho Tildco'llendricks' letters, the bouso passed a bill repealing tbo spccio resumption act, and indefinitely postponing tho return of specie payments. Whether tho letters had any effect upon tho vote is for tho reader to judge. Tho Tolo stood, yeas 100, nays 80. Most or the Itcpublicans and a Tew Democrats voted against tho bill. Tbo ro peal of this bill can but exert an injurious lnOucnco upon tho Democratic interests in tho East, whatever may bo its effect in tho West and South.
