Holbrook State Bank Failed. From Holbrook News. One of the worst bank failures that has ever occured in Arizona or the southwest was heralded to the depositors of the Holbrook State Bank last-Monday morning, when a notice was posted on the door, "Closed for liquidation" and later developments brought the intelligence that there was not much left to liquidate. Almost .every business man in Holbrook and many who could ill-afford it, were caught in the crash and most deplorable fea ture of it all is the glaring fact that the bank itself, according to a public statement of President Raynolds oh Wednesday, knew for some days that the failure was imminent and in the face of this and against the adyice of "nis counsel he continued to take deposits to the last. Amundsen Claims His Name Was Forged The hearing of the case of Babbitt Bros'. Trading'Co. vs. J. S. Amundsen, of Kingman, as surviving partner of the partnership of himself and the late George Babbitt, is being heard here this week. Judge A, S. Gibbons, of St Johns, presiding, plaintiffs represented by Crable, and defendant by Henderson Stockton, of Phoenix and Harben & Gold, of this city, Milton Carlson, of Los Angeles, the celebrated handwriting expert, is one of the Nvitnesses in the case, arriving on Monday. The defense will produce him probably today in their attack on the authencity of a signature, pur porting to be Mr, Amundsen's.
