CORONADO ISLANDS. This group of rocky islands belonging to Mexico is situated about twelve miles south of Tent City and at the highest point about 400 feet above sea level. The principal features of interest are the rookeries and the submarine growth easily visible on account of the transparency of the waters. The islands are the breeding grounds for the many sea birds of this section, and during the hatching season the young and the eggs may be seen by the million. From a glass-bottom boat kept there for use of visitors, the depths of the ocean are visible and all kinds of fish are plainly seen sporting in the waters. Probably the best fishing banks of the Pacific are around these islands. Here is the home of the monster gamey tuna, which is larger and more plentiful than in any other American waters. POINT LOMA.
