Sheep rDog Tials The annual North-Eastern Cham pionship Trial will be held at Alexan dra, on thie racecourse, on March 30th and 31st and April 1st. The course set for the dogs will be very similar to that of the Captain Payne Trial, and should draw a good entry of dogs from various parts of Victoria. The Captain Payne Trial will be held at Tatura early in May, so the Alexandra Trial should be a good try out for that event. A Novice, also an Encourage Trial, is .to bh included on the programme. Two silver cups and £3 have been donated for the Alexandra Trials. There will be £56 in prize money. The William Cooper Trial-the most comprehensive in Australia--will be held at Beatson's property,- seven miles from Yea. This is the first.time such an important trial has been run anywhere within many miles of this locality. In the Cooper Trial a dog must cast over 600 yards, pick up sheep and, after working through several obstacles, the sheep have to be drafted and taken away in two lots. Fr...

HALL SEATS. The, shire engineer reported that about 120 seats at the shire hall re quired re-covering. Thirty-six had been done at a cost of £1 each by Mr. H. Ditten. Councillors considered the price reasonable. It was stated by the engineer that the seats had increased in value compared with a few years back. Cr. Weeks pointed out that she would have liked to have inspected the seats, as she was a mem ber of the hall committee.-The en gineer replied that the work was ur gent and he had to have it done quickly.

VILLENEUVE STREET TO BE= SEALED. The matter of sealing Villenenuv street was discussed and it was decide: ed, on the motion of Crs. Brisbane, and Briggs, that the street be sealed.Crs, Almond and Edwards voted against the motion. Prior to the motion being put, the president gave an uhdertaking that the money for the work would come out of the Contingency Fund. . Cr. Almond said he- would -vote against the motion, as the estimates had been framed and no provision had been made for Villeneuve street. Cr. Edwards said he would support - Cr. Almond. He believed in consist ency. During the meeting comparisons were made between Villeneuve street and Coster street, and the president referred to many. questions regarding' Coster street and its priority,.. and other streets and their priorities.
