The whole scheme of their spacious window has been re modelled, and the goneral verdict, wo feel assured, will be that a decided improvement in the effective display ; of each subject has been obtained. The pictures themselves are quite up to the high degree of artistic excel lence, for which the firm of Richards j and Co. has gained world fame. The beautiful curls and" chubby face of the little i chap needed only the warm fiesh tones to almost make the picture live. Very fine is the companion picture— a young girl gathering wood violets. This is again a fine achievement, the expression of the face being realistic, and the be...

The District batted first, but gave a horrible display, and were all out for a miserable 30 runs, not a single batsman reaching double fig ures. II. Lidgett was the nngel with | the sword, securing the fine average | of eight for 13 (including the much : coveted "hat trick") off nine overs: J. j Whelan (two for 13) completed the ■ slaughter.
