Xarandcra Notes. The following were the vital statistics for tlie quarter ended :31st December : — Marriages, 14; births, 54,32 males and 22 females; deaths, 22, 12 males and 1 0 females. The totals for the year are, births, 224, of which 120 are males and 104 females : deaths 68, 41 being males and 27 females : mar riages, 43. Magisterial in quiries and inquests were held in 10 cases; and 10 illegiti mate births were registered. Typhoid fever is prevalent in town at present, Mr F. A. Smith's little boy being down with the disease : Mrs ? Harry Wilkinson is being treated at Mrs Eldrid's private hospital for tlie same complaint : and a child of Mr W. Bird has also had a severe attack, but is now recovering. These three cases are being treated by Dr. Bruce We understand that there are also some cases in the hospital, as well as one of diphtheria. Summer diarrhoea is carrying off the children, there being 110 less than seven deaths from this cause registered at Naran dera last quarter....

The bride, who was given away by Mr B. Falkiner, of Tuppal, wore ivory duchess satin, trim med with billowy chiffon frills carried up aud almost covering the whole of the train. The low Court bodice had a bertha of gauze, beautifully embroidered in butterflies and caught at the waist with a diamond broocli, allowing the ends to hang in graceful folds to the hem of the skirt. From Tuesday last the Cus toms duties passed over to the Commonwealth, and arrange ments were made tliat all the money 'received should bs paid into a special banking account. The impression prevails in some quarters that it is pro bable tliat the Customs duties will be at once altered, but this is -not likely to take place immediately. To-night Mr. Barton, in an interview, said that a good deal of misconcep tion apparently existed on the subject. Nothing would be done until a special law had been passed. Do you mean a law passed by the Federal Government ?
