Speoial Meeting. In accordance with tlie resolution passed on Tuesday last, all the members of the Council, except Alderman Hancock (who was away at Bathurst), met in Cameron-street on Thursday afternoon, and inspected the scene of the re cent flood. ; It-was decided on the motion of Alderman Garrard, seconded by Alderman Franki, that a 16-inch pipe should be put under the footpath recently made and carried into drainage pipes in centre of the road. It was nlso decided to alter the' ifi-atincs at the entrance to the pipes at the foot of Church street, and that a concrete gutter should re place the present one on the west side of Church-street, and larger pipes at the inter section with Spring-street. The kcrbing and guttering in Cameron-street was also put down on'the list, to be done at once,; The locality complained of by Mr. Pattin soti was then inspected, and it was suggested to form the larie at rear to prevent a good deal of tliuidrainage, but no decision was come to. Elrctipn Meetings,: ' Mr. M. A H. Fitzhardinge. A public meeting of ratepayers was held at the balmain Coffee Palace, on Tuesday evening last, to hear- the views of Mr. M. A. H. Fitz hardinge, one of the candidates for the North Ward, on Municipal matters. Mr. Storey was vo'ed. to the chair, and after thanking thi so pie ent for the honor conferred upon him, he staled that the gentleman who waB to address them that evening was untried as an alderman, but so was his opponent. He tpen asked the meeting to give the candidate a patient hear ing, ana cancu upon Mr: mtznarennge to speak. Mr. Fitzhardinge, on rising, was: well, received by the audience, and after a few pre liminary remarks, he stated that his reason for coming forward as a candidate for [their votes was that he had received four requisi tions, representing over one hundred, rate payers of the North Ward, and that he did not consider the ward had been properly repre sented by the retiring alderman. . Mr. Milham. H A meeting of the above gentleman's com mittee was. held at Dick's Hotel, on Thursday night. Mr. McDermott occupied tho chair, and there were a number of new faces among the committeemen, and several additional names had been added since the previous meeting. Tlie' candidate for South-west Ward honours' addressed a few remarks to the meet ing about the necessity of a larger expenditure of monev in the south-west ward than was required in the eastern wards, as they hud been so long in existence.
