SThe "first' cairs returning. passed through Kial a at about 4.30 p.m. and from then until 8 p"nl. theire was almost a, continuous streamn of cars, motor cycles,?lorries, in.fact.anything that pri'ovided motive power. KIAMA WATER SUPPLY Since Kiama Council decided to ask, the .Governinent to carry out a survey of' its propiosal to "augment the p?iesent supply by' construct~lg a' darm on Jeriara Creek,. the follow ing facts have been ascertained: Taking the records of the levels of the present dam during' 1940 .it was found that the level dropped from 5 ft. 8 inches to 6 feet 6inclies below thle spillway within a week. Placing these figures ohi: a graph obf capacities of "the dam it .was foiund to represent' approximately '900,000 gallons. Taking another, week's re. cordings in the early part of this year the saine.result appeaired. These figures do not take into account the amount 'of water flowing into the dam. Even soihe of our now most industrious citizens apparently had an idle moment or two years ago. Don Swan involuntarily com mdnced the clean-up, and his ex ample Was soon followed by niahyiy of the seniors, who have planed and varnished their desks. The recent westerly gale smashed a.large tree in the front playground. The School barometer showed the lowest reading since its installation in 1942, during the height, of the blow. At the P. and C. Meeting on Thursday, 19th June, it is hoped that some money will be voted for the purchase of special material .for our new kindergarten. The annual fraternal visit of the Moss ,Vale Central School occurs on 12th .uly, the teams staying until the Saturday. Football, basketball, and field sports are on the pro gramme.
