TO THE EDITOR. [Newspaper Article] — The Moruya Times and South Coast Journal — 3 April 1889

TO T1IF. HDITOIi. Sin, — Any onfi stnmliug at the top of Queen Street nn-l loukinj; townnls Gundiiry cannot fail to lie struck by the flourishing appetir nnco which that sul.url) presents. New and substantial tenements nre being erected in every direction, superseding the ljusli shan ties of oilier days. It has long ago liecn decided that if Moruya is to extend at all it must be in a westerly direction, and judging from appearances, it will not he long before Moruya proper and Gundary join. Under these circumstances it ir a pity that the street from the Presbyterian Church to the present Yiirragee Roud should have been ailoued to f.ill into such a disgraceful state. It is absolutely dangerous, and any one travelling nlong it at night does so at the imminent risk of a sprained ancle or a broken limb. It is all fudge to say that because Murray Street (which I am told is the name of the road in question) is no longer the Yarragce Road, it need no longer claim tho attention of the autho...

Sermon by Dr. Parker. SMOKING IN CHURCH. For half nn hour on Monday Morning, January 21, Dr. Parker talked, without cere mony or formality, to a mixed nudiencc in the large schoolroom of the City Temple, London, and, although no one ventured upon eating his dinner while this week-day sermon was in progress, a few availed themselves of another part of the invitation, and took n pull at their pipes as they listened. Proliab. ly the greatest number of the 400 men who assembled at the meeting belonged to tho class of town travellers, which includes can vassers, commission ngents, nnd clerks in search of employ. Mechanics and artisanis fresh from their toil were scarcely to be noticed. Dr. Parker ad droBsod himself to thn removal of one or two 'Mistakes about Preachers.' Ho said ho wished that there...
