Indiana Man Is 'Right , [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Livestock World — 18 January 1902

Indiana Man Is Right , KM calling attention to the sxiperlative importance of breeding Prof . C . S . Plumb , of the Indiana experiment station , strikes a key note . He very properly insists that undue stress has been placed on feeding by American agricultural journals and not sufficient attention paid to breeding . But for the labors of breeders in Great Britain and the United States , the United States farmer would today be sending to market beef animals of the buffalo species , and the magnificent grade specimens seen in Chicago markets would be missing . ImprovingSeedGrain At The Iowa Station . [Newspaper Article] — Chicago Livestock World — 18 January 1902

ImprovingSeedGrain At The Iowa Station . DAII . T LIVE STOCK Woman s SPECIAL SERVICE , AMES , IOWA , January 16—Much valuable work has been done at the Iowa Agricultural experiment station in improving grain and results reached with wheat and corn have not only been highly gratifying but promise rich returns to the agricultural population of the Northwest . Prof . James Atkinson , the station expert who has charge of the work is at present engaged in conducting a series of instructions in corn judging in connection with the winter short course and farmers from all over Iowa and adjoining states have been interested students . Prof . Atkinson is not only confident that the yield of both wheat and corn can be materially increased , but also that tho domain of winter wheat , invaluable as a nurse crop for clover , can bo extended much further north than that cereal is cultivated at present . # # # # For four years past experiments have boon conducted steadily with 12 varieties of sprin...
