It has yielded better than early expec tation. The average as given for Oregon is 10.3. - Death of Capt. Shields. Capt. James Shields died in Al bany at 10 o'clock last evening. Capt. Shields was a pioneer in Ore iron, an old and respected resident of that city, and for several years held the position of treasurer of Linn county. He was a devoted Christian and a faithful friend.
