Sit jfiity [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Appeal — 14 February 1860

Sit jfiity "You never heard tell of my molasses candv ditj yon squire ?" said SUcKpole to me one day, when I called at hit house to take the census of his family. I shook my head and he proceeded: "I speculate it was rather a wonderful afkir, and if Sally there would tell it, you would appreciate it, certain. I was determined to cof* her up. and putting up my purchases...

m f flttg appeal. TnF. CHINESE LANTERN.— We confys being somewhat of iv seeker after curiosities. ami hearing of one in the shape of a Chinese lantern, in the upper part of town, we started out a few evenings since We found the object of our search in Sam Sinn's mercantile emporium. The lamp, which was about eighteen inches in length and ten inches in width, was covered with a kind of transparent paper, ornamented with pendants, and contained a brilliant light in the center. Revolving around the luminary were a number of quaint looking figures of ducks, geese, warlike appearing Chinamen, amiable countenanced females, rabbits, birds and things. About thirty almond-eyedle Cestials were seated around the stove enjoying the sight, and cnhalingan atmosphcro freighted with opium, bad brandy, cheap tobacco and shrimps.— Aft. Messenger. JBtfif Kate L. E., writing on the subject of kissing, says: "I am vaiu enough to pride myself 011 being a girl of sense, and dearly love and appreciate good...
