... I •sr 3?lxe jQaily Pews. UENI80N, WEDNESDAY JUNE 13, 1878. Russia, Greece, Holland arid Switzerland have agreed to meet the United States and define, if possi- ble, an international system of coin- age. Now let us have an interna- tional copyright law and free trade, and repeal the navigation acts, and then the unity and freedom of the nations, of which prophets dreamed, will begin to be inaugurated. A Washington correspondent oj the New Orleans Democrat says the New York Herald, in a leading edi- torial, gives up the ghost for John Sherman and Stanley Matthews, and takes the ground that the only hope of the Republican party now lies in disconnecting Hayes from any guilty complicity with their transactions. Should it be ascertained that Hayes was an accomplice, he should be impeached and a President elected in his place bv the House. Secretary Sherman is one of the most adroit political thimble-riggers and tricksters on the continent. He has been intimately connected with all th...

I 3£he Daily Jlcms. DENISON. FRIDAY JUNE 14 1S78. Gen. Pleasanton, the great cavalry leader, in a recent interview with a New York Herald correspondent, corroboiatcs Gen. Dick Taylor's statement, in regard to Grant's cam- paign against Lee. The Ilonse will undoubtedly yield to the Senate and give up its attempt to reduce the army this session. There seems to be a general weakening of the opposition, and the funds of the army were strong enough on Tues- day to accept the Senate amendment. The Texas delegantion will stand by the firmy to the last. Anderson, who is uncovering the weak spots of so many eminent and trusted Republicans, may be all that his old friends and associates declare him to be—a perjurer, a scoundrel, and an arrant knave ; but there is one thing to be remembered, he was all this two years ago, when he was a trusted Republican. His character is not revealed now for the first time. It was thoroughly known at the time lie was appointed supervisor of East Feliciana par...

$hc Jlailvj Jlctus. DENISON, SATURDAY JUNE is, iSJS- The investigation is bringing out ninny points which explain things of the past. For instance the showing of the fact that Conkling has had possession of the Anderson-JMat- thews letters explaines many things in the Mines interview. It also ex- plains Howe's speech, and why Mat- thews did not reply, although he was personally attacked. The plan was, in the event Matthews replied, for Conkling, with the knowledge of the Matthews-Anderson connection, to come into the debate. Darrell shows that Matthews knew Conkling had this knowledge, hence his fail- ure to reply to Ilowe. BPECIAL LOCALS. A Card. In calling attention to the official notice of the precinct and county conventions in Tarrant county, the veteran editor of the Fort Worth Standard, gives utterance to this wise and Democratic counsel: "All those interested in the unity and integrity of the Democratic par- ty, will give unmistakable evidence of that tact by attending those...
