Fatal Accident   AT CHARTERS TOWERS. MINE MANAGER KILLED. (By Telegraph from Our Correspondent.) Charters Towers, January 6. Thomas Dodge, manager of the Ruby P.C. mine, while in the mine to day signalled to be taken to the No. 5 level. He jumped for an empty truck which overbalanced, pinning him between the sides of the mine and the truck, breaking his neck and jaw, and killing him instantly. The engine driver, noticing, that something was wrong, pulled up and found Dodge   dead with a candle still burning in his hand.

A Diabolical Crime.   LOVERS LED INTO A DEATH- TRAP.                 A ghastly triple tragedy, the facts of which point conclusively to the perpetra-   tion of a singularly diabolical double murder and the subsequent suicide of the murderer, has just come to light at Cassel, Prussia. It was noticed that for some days   the shop of young piano-dealer named Meister had been kept closed, and even- tually some relatives of the man in quest-   ion persuaded the police to make the investigations. The door was forced open, and inside was found the dead body of the proprietor, with a bottle which con- tained poison lying by his side. A   strong smell of gas permeated the shop, seeming to come from a room in the rear, and, fearing that there were still discoveries to be made, the police-officers turned their attention to this...
