The Encyclopcedio Reader. To the smart reader who looks at tho bottom of all advertisements to seo if Warner's Safe Remodies aro tho rateon d'etre of the articles, this note is specially addressed. Such are the ourative proper ties of tho ' siifo cures' of H. H. Waruor & Co., that the one-titno almost universal conservative objection to proprietary medicines has been ontiroly brokon down, and tho 'safe' cures are boeoming the household medicine. You may not have any disease now, but you do not know when it may evidence itself. If you are ill, nerer pass Warner's safe euros with out a trial. Remember the power of the remedies was proved in the first instance by Mr. Warnor himself, and were famous thro' the length and breadth of tho Amorican continent before they were introduced into England, Europe, Asia, or AuBtmUfi. Remember that testimo nials from creditable citizens of all nationB have boen roccived, gratefully acknow ledging the unparalelled excellence of the cures, and ...

Anybody who visits the art museums is struck with the fact that the feet of tho ancients seem very large. They do seem so, but measurement proves that for symmetrical proportion they could not bo bettor, and yet the font of the modern man and woman are much smaller than those of ancient times. Why is this 3 The answer is not difficult. Modern fashion and custom have contracted feet 'to the present small proportions ; shoes have' taken the place of sandals. The waists of women wore not so small in the old times as in the present age of corsets. The health was then better than in the present day' of social demands, household cares and hurried living. Mankind is weaker than it once was, the' race degenerates; wefeel depressed, blue, weak and languid, where wo woro onco strong, bright and active. Such modern. troubles require the most advanced treatment and -tho skill of the best physicians, and all scientific authorities declare that Clements Tonic has greater clainiB on the gratitude ...

That Unknown Quantity-Happiness. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 5 September 1891

Tkat Unknown Quantity— Happiness. Euclid might have achieved airreatcr fame than he now holds, had he pro pounded this problem — 'Given a straight line, find happiness.' And then all the world would have thought itsolf into a bald and unconvincing condition in trying' to solve tho probloui. Possibly tho eminent Geometrician did state this proposition In his last books, but theso wero burned in the conflagration jof an ancient library, and we have not time just now to rake over tho debris. So then logically with the foregoing, mail is happy only vhon he is unconscious of his happiness. Happiness is mostly a question of health, . which again is the well-being of organs, which the owner is hardly conscious of possess ing. Tho best new...
