THEATRE.         The Bandit of the Rhine, a drama, by E. H. Thomas, Esq., was presented on Wednesday evening last, to a   bumper House, and was announced for repetition yesterday evening. We cannot do justice to ourselves, if we omit to notice the very little anxiety shewn on the part of the performers generally, to the success of the piece. It is not a production of Shakespeare, certainly, but, with so careless a performance, Shake- speare's best piece must have failed in effect. Mrs. Cameron, (as she always has) was perfect in her part, and made the most of Rubina, the heroine of the piece. Lee did justice to Feudlams; he was likewise perfect— and Miss Murray was respectable in Maria— Meredith was good in the old Ferryman. The rest of the performers shewed a carelessness, that was an insult to the audience. Surely, playing being their profession, a perfect knowledge of their parts is no more than ought reasonably to ...
