Dapto Show. [Newspaper Article] — South Coast Times and Wollongong Argus — 26 February 1915

Dapto Show. .The fifty-eighth annual show, under - the auspices of the Dapto A. and 11. Society, was opened on Tuesday last, when the attendance was a little in advance of the first day last years The weather conditions were ideal up till about 4 o'clock, when a light, shower or two lell, but these in no way Interfered with, the programme. There is no gainsaying the fact that the. Dapto Society is deserv ing of the liberal support ol the producers and others. It bears the unique distinction of being the old est-established society in Australas ia, having conducted 58 annual ex hibitions without a break, and, as the President (Mr. J. G. Fairley), remarked at the opening, it showed more Vigor at the present time than ever before. By the withdrawal of the Government subsidy, the funds have been depleted to the extent of £130, but despite this the commit tee decided to pay the prize-money in full— a decision which is pra'se worthy. During the past year or so the society has been all tha...

NORTH COAST NEWS A female tick was discovered by- 1 the Inspector at Coorabell on 'Gr. ( Ey ears' farm on Monday. This oriei makes the sixth single female tick I found on separate farms in this dis-- ' trict during the last few- 'wee'-'s.— . 'Bangalow Herald.' The representative of one machinery firm ' has already taken since the second j week of the year, orders to a total j value pf practically £1000, Among; these was an order from Mr. Geo. | Hill. Hyde's Cree^, for a tliree-Cow Gane releasor milking plant with 2f fi.p. Tangye oil engine and W0lseley separator, and' these are now bein^ installed. In addition a large plant has just been completed for Mr. -3r., Barr, on his farm at the South Arm, this installation running into over £400 and inc.uding the latest model Tangye benzine engine, four--, cow Gane milker, and 135-gall. sepv erator. It sloped downwards at fin1 angle of about thirty degrees, and the floor was the same as wall. 9 mid ? roof — great blocks Of smooth granite as slippery as glass in places. ;Vc found it easier and safer to slide; down the first fifty or sixty yards than to try and walk it. ? At the bottom of the slope we found a few yards of level upright walking, and then you had to wriggle on our stomachs like lizards a short dis tance where the roof and floor al most met. It reminded me of the entrance to the Treasure Chamber in King Solomon's Mines. After the low place c...

SPORT. BOXING. RUDD v. DARCY. (To the Editor.) [Newspaper Article] — South Coast Times and Wollongong Argus — 26 February 1915

SPORT. BOXING. EiUDD v. DARCY. (To the Editor.) Sir, — I see a letter written by J im Fitzgerald, the promoter of the Star Stadium, Wollongong, about my fight with Jack Darcy last Satur day. In the first place I signed ar ticles to fight Marchand, the Frenchman, and at the last minute Marchand hurt his hand and could not. fight, and then Fitzgerald, to clear his own expenses, wanted to nn+ Tlorr*xr /in avrain alfii}* T hA him by a knock-out in 2j rounds a ? fortnight before. I knew. Darcy would not dra*wl a good house a gain, and I demanded £25 guaran tee and Fitzgerald would not give1 (t, so no fight took place. I picked up the ''iSportsaian' to-day and' sow where Fitzgerald reckons I am frightened to fight Darcy again as he knocked me down for nine sec. If Fitzgerald or anyone else on the Soutn Coast thinks that DiaTCy can put me down for the full count, they can have a side-bet of '£50 on the result. If Fitzgerald puts the fight on he will find myself and money ready at any time....
