THE experience of townspeople during the past few days should have the effect of impressing upon the Muni- cipal Council the need of a water-cart for watering the streets. Wind and its concomitant clouds of blinding dust have been proclaiming their presence in a very marked degree. Besides the unpleasantness caused to street-farers, shopkeepers suffer considerable loss through the dust that is deposited in their premises. The matter of water- ing the streets has been broached before by complaining ratepayers;   but so far the efforts made to induce the     Council to supply this want have proved     futile. There is no occasion to describe the state of the Bega streets in windy weather, for people are only too pain- fully aware of the conditions that exist when high winds prevail. It is not in the power of the Municipal body to prevent the winds from blowing, but we certainly think it is their duty to minimise the evil...
