We are pleased to notice that the ogentlemen's baths exhibit.a decided im provenient during the last few days; which we trust may go on increasing. Various projects are spoken of for deep elliig. the bathing area,,and it is believed in some . quarters by cutting away the sea-weed, and renmtving promineint obstructions, the Baths may be'cleared and restored to th'eir former condition. It may be here noted that hot saltwater water lbaths- are impracticable at -our beach, except at avery great expense and under losing. coriditions. KANGAROO APPLE To the Editor. [Newspaper Article] — Queenscliff Sentinel, Drysdale, Portarlington & Sorrento Advertiser — 19 December 1885

KANGAROO APPLE To the Editor. Sir, Why are:ourBorough Councillors so anxious to destroy what they sayi *-is locally - known "as thei Kangaroo apple plant"? ,I noticed last week's Sentinel reports they wrote to our local member complaining of it, and some months ago: they paid a lot of money to have. it destroyed. One would almost suppose .they meant the "Solanum Sodomaeum" (Liniu.u?u) called in English. the'Sodom Nightihizade', lei, the difference is so great that a mistake is impossible, the one; beiig v:ery prickly and bearing a round apple highly poisonous, while the. other has no: prickles and bears a loiig apple, frequently eaten by children, anti seems a harmless plant. Every school boyl knows the one . front the other. If the 'Solaneum Sodoulamm,' known to the School children as the Sodom Nightslihade iere cut down :and :thrown upo'e the drift sand' at the narrows; it would do enough good to repay the cost 'of removal. Bu the "Kangaroo Apple plahnt" may safely be left " to ta...
