LOUD HAETINGTON AT INVER - NESS Lord Harrington bas addressed a large meeting at Inverness, at which be dealt with the present state of affairs in Ireland and the effect which that qaestion had upon the two great political parties. < He declared that in his opinion tbe Parnellite system as it now existed io Ireland, differed very little from actual rebellion. Referring to Mr Gladstone, he said that his whole aim seemed to be to throw dis credit upon the administration of the law in Ireland.

CORPORATION. WAIXAEOO, October 4. A special meeting of the Wallaroo Corporation was held on Thursday even ing for the purpose of opening tenders for fencing the western park lauds. There were present-the Mayor (Mr J. Malcolm, J-P.)3 Crs Gepp, Stimson, Kearse, Harmao, Hamence, Phillips, and the town Clerk. Two tenders were received. Brooke and McDonald, 4d per post, £d for charring and Jd for cutting tops extra. W. Gondell 7|d per poBt, and Id each extra for charring and Id for cutting tops. Cr GEPP moved that the lowest tender be accepted. Cr KEARSE seconded. Cr STIMSON said there was a deputation present, and he thought they bad better be beard before the tender was accepted. The MAYOR asked if the deputation wished to be beard on the subject of the tenders. Cr STIMSON said it was not; but they wished to alter the direction proposed for the road, and if the tenders were accepted the contractors might object to have the direction changed.
