HINTS TO FARMERS. USEFUL INFORMATION. FOOD FOR BROOD SOWS. [Newspaper Article] — The Yarragon, Trafalgar & Moe Settlement News — 8 September 1904

I HINTS TO FARMERS. I -- USEFUL INFORMATION. . FOOD FOB BROOD SOWS. No kind of pig "requirefe such care ful treatment in the matter of feeding as the" brood' sow. ItMs commonly supposed that, because sows have ravenous appetites and show A fiisposi ' tion to consume almost anything in J their efforts to make up the drain upon their systems caused by the i nourishment they are affording- to* their youaff, any kind of food is good enough and suitable for them. There could be no greatei' mistake. Not only in the interests of the sow herself, but also in the interests of the litter which she is suckling, it is .essential that the foo'd given to her should be not only abundant in quantity,, but: also as good in quality as. circum stances will admit of. Brood sows, j when suckling heavy litters, require I in addition to a heavy allowance of grain foods, a liberal quantity from day to day of soft fogds.'such as roots and potatoes, to supply tlie necessary water for the production of the mi...

THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY. THE TRAFALGAR BITTER COMPANY. MR. MURRAY'S REILY. To the Editor of the News. [Newspaper Article] — The Yarragon, Trafalgar & Moe Settlement News — 15 September 1904

DAIRYING INDUSTRY THE TRAFALGAR BUTTER COMPANY.   Mr. MURRAY'S REPLY. To the Editor of the News. Sir--Re Mr. Dalgleish's letter in your issue of/the 8th inst., as I only wanted to show the shareholders of the company who would be most likely to serve them best as directors --those that helped it through bad times as well as good, or those that come and go as they please - I willing ly withdraw the words "made over" and say the shares were "transferred" in the proper manner. But! might also add that in due course they were sold and transferred back to the orig- inal owner.       Regarding Mr. Evans' letter in your   last issue, he accuses me of not saying that he and Mr. Whitton moved and seconded that Dalgety and C0. should have half the company's butter last year. It is quite true that they did move to that effect, and a good thing it was for the company, that their re- solution was rejected by the other directors, as...
