Parking Heads To Be Chosen By Mail Ballots Seven businessmen will be nominated in a ballot by mail to direct the State College Parking Committee. The elected directors will function as the heads of nonprofit corporation to draw up bylaws, and utilize funds donated by merchants. The funds are for improving parking facilities in downtown State College. THE PARKING FUND has exceeded $15,000," Ronald R. Rum baugh, executive vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce. said yesterday. The parking committee is "not so much concerned with the amount as with the number of merchants who will participate," Rumbaugh said. About 100 merchants have been contacted and 33 have pledged money. The ballots for nominating directors must include the pledge card if the person is not already a member of the parking committee, Rumbaugh said. The deadline for [ballots to be submitted is Aug. 121. THE DIRECTORATE will work with the Borough Parking Authority to "improve and better downtown parking," ...

c* no!no.'no! that's not RIGHT! Bursar to Accept Excuses Officially the Aug. 25 deadline for fee payments will be upheld by the University, but any student with a "legitimate" excuse for paying his fees late will not have to pay the late charge of $25. Two University administra tors told me yesterday they did not foresee an extension of the August 25 deadline. However, the Bursar will probably accept almost any reason for waiving the lale fee. Although fee son for waiving «^ _4H_^_k_ _^_#'V payments are ^^^^_™ _^ running well _myers ahead of last year, it seems likely that several thousand students will fail to meet the deadline because of the inadequate publicity and short notice. The liberal interpretation of the deadline regulation will ¦ accents certainly benefit some students, but those who will be unable to "go and complain" will be unjustly penalized. Thus, we feel the deadline should be extended so that equal conditions will prevail for all students. GENER...

Exam Guidelines Needed Approval by the University Senate of a final examination period marks its recognition of a crucial prob-•lem posed by the term system but also indicates a reluctance of the policy-makers to face the problem squarely. The plan, which passed the Senile unanimously, calls for a final exam period following the regular 60 days of classes. The period will be established for the fall term and its use is optional in each course. . No classes will be held on these days while students lake exams, presumably in the present 75 minute periods although the Senate made no official ruling on this question. Students with two or more finals scheduled for the same day may file to take a conflict examination. The Senate has evidently recognized that even under the term system" , many courses conclude with comprehensive final examinations. Testing time has remained _. at 75 minutes, which means that an entire course is covered in the same span as one bluebook on one section ...
