To The Hay ti Herald: Seeing that you are championirg the en use of right and justice in the affairs of Pemiscot county, and en deavoring to protect the people from the schemes of designing politicians; and since the Argus has virtually laid down the fight and the Republican has taken it up, I beg to submit the following: The Republican, published at Caruthersville, which is playing second iiddle to the Argus in the auditing of the books quadrille, lias received a letter from the great Audit and Bond Company, St. Louis, Mo., which ho evident ly thinks conclusively settles the matter to his way of thinking, as he concludes with the command to "put up, or shut up." To his way of thinking, yes; but to the views of others who consider the interest of the tax payers of the county, not the int erest of the Audit Company of St. Louis...

Just ns wo go to press, word is received that Judge Killiun, commissioned by tiie supreme court to take evidence in the local option contest case, has delivered his lindings to the supreme court, and that he sustains the decision of Judge Riley in dismissing the case, and also sustains every contention of the contestees. Wo hour considerable com plaint about a certain kind of worm stripping tho cotton of its loaves, doing tlio plant consider able damage. They are said to come into the lield something in the manner of army worms, and in just a little while the lield is covered, with them and the cot ton leaves are soon devoured. It issaidthut these worms do not stop at eating tho leaves from tho cotton stalks, but after they have done this they then attack the young, tender bolls. The following, from the Cuervo (N. M.) Clipper indicates that these worms cover a largo area of the United States: Manhattan, Kan. Letters are being received at the Kansas State Agricultural College from different parts of the state re garding damage being done to various crops, especially alfalfa and young wheat, by small, variously-marked worm.
