It was upon this day, also, that Bonaparte, in the year 1799, defeated and destroyed the Turkish army, 18,000 strong, at Aboukir, in lower Egypt. • The check which the French had received at Acre, in Syria, gave rise to numerous in surrections in Egypt, all of which were sup pressed. THE LATEST NEWS. Arrifl of the Cherokee, The steamer Cherokee arrived at this port yesterday morning. The news is not of any interest.
