JNGSCELLAKEOUS. ? lie Oregon City Enterprise. In the Oregonian of the 8th under the caption of "The Indian Situation," mention is made of the .suffering endured by Indian pris oners enroute for Yakima, and the cause is ascribed chiefly to Agent liinehart's refusal to issue them the Indian supplies then in transitu to the Malheur Agency when met by the military escort. Are Indian agents authorized to make subsistence issues in such manner and under juch circumstances? By leaving their reservation ...

It is announced that wheat can not be raised in England at prices to compete with that grown in other countries where land is less valuable. This has been pretty well understood for a long time past; because the use of land pays better in England for the cultiva tion of cattle, sheep, and green oroDS. England contains so large a population, that its area of land rfoes not suffice to feed its people. Our own wheat growers can un dersell them in their own home market. According to estimates made by eminent judges, the En glish farmers cannot produce wheat and live by the operation, at less than two pounds eight shillings .per quarter. Less than that will not cover their expenses. But the average price during the past four months has not been above two pounds. Here is shown a loss of eijyht shillings, or two dol lars per quarter. t...
