A Ilugc Canard Exposed. Special dispatch to the Courier-Journal. J New Orleans, Oct. 20. A gentleman who arrived in this city last night on the brig Kosaa, from Del Key, states that a ren .ment ot black horse cavalry has teen re cently organized under Gen. Jofdan, and thatn is creating havoc amon the Spaniards. It is commanded by Col. Lawrence Orton ' ilHatns, who has been for the last six years believed to have been executed as a spy at Franklin Tennessee, in 1862, by a United States drumhead court martial. It fieems that he was not executed, having been smug led out of the country by old army friends and conveyed to Cuba, where he settled and married a wealthy crecle, and has sinre lived in affluence. His regiment of patriots is made up of negroes, mounted on black horses, and is eaid to be not inferior to Forrest'" original squadron. Col. Williams is known as Don Immanuel Orton. His rank is Brigadier General. He sent his wife to Europe in September, and has enlisted for the war, ...

Ttie xneri who pledl themselves to their constituents to vote for ex-President John son for United fctates Senator, and then refused to do so, are beginning to hear of their treachery. The Bristol Xews of Oct. 29, cays ; "Senator Xelson, of the Jonesboro Bris tol district, was positively pledged to the support of Johnson for the United States Senate, and that pledge was made a prece dent to his endorsement by the Conserva tive party. Jlildebrand, the notori ous outlaw, stating that he had come to the conclusion that he could nr longer keep up a war against the whole country, and lo gins to be "let alone." He promises that Ije will never more molest anybody, and will in future act like an honest and peaceable man. This letter is in the hands of eowe of the friends of Hildebrand gentlemen who served in the Confederate army, and will no doubt be published.
