Lexington. . Tbe Chicago Poit bas a description of tbe taiga of Lexington, written fur that paper by Alfred M. Teony, of Chicago, a non commissioned officer of Co. O, Irish brigade, from wbich we extract as follows : On the 12tb, Thursday, while we were till at work on tbe 'entrenchments, oar pickets companies A and C, of Narwhal's cavalrywere driven in. Colonel Mulli- fan immediately sent oat companies B, I, L and 0, (Captains Qleeson, Dan Quirk, Fitxgerald and Lieut. Wallace.) to enter tain tbe enemy. The enemy's advance guard, about 5,000 strung, were discovered in a corn field on tbe top of tbe bluff near Old Town. We immediately fired upon them aix volleys in rapid succession killing bout 600 of tlitm before they could lorm in line. We lost in this part oi tbe battle 8 killed and 15 wounded.
