Opponents of the American Party arc in the habit of Raving that the contest for the TresiJcncj will be between the Demo cracy and the Black Republicans that Mr. Fillmore will scarcely, be known in the race. A friend at our elbow, proposes to democrats who profess to believe this, to wager $200 that Mr. Fillmore gets more electoral votes than the Black Republican candidate. Furthermore, hi view of the fact, that democrats are declaring Mr. Fillmore viU not get a single Slate, he desires to test their sincerity. He therefore proposes a bet of $100 on each of the States, (Kentucky, Tennessee, New York and Pennsylvania), from which the candidates for the Presi dency and Vice Presidency are selected, $100 to $1,000 that he pets all four of these States, and $100 to $1,000 that he will be elected.
