Louver screen creates entry [Newspaper Article] — El Sereno Star — 7 May 1964
Louver screen creates entry It is always nice to have a defined entrance area for a home, and where a small hall is not practical, other solutions are possible. A divider screen, to define the entrance area where the front door opens directly into the living room, can .be built at wood louvers which need take only four to six Inches of floor space. The louvers can be set in a top and bottom base and the screen can be framed or supported by a simple 2x4 column. You can use clear finished west coast hemlock in this screen which will give a good accent to your room. In the event you already have wood paneling in the living area, you can create a Striking contrast with rough sawn cedar lumber for the screen. In this type of installation you can introduce some rather strong colors if you wish, for the rough wood can be stained or painted. Some designers have suggested the use of vivid shades for emphasis.
