'i'hc Sails Ileitis. DENIWON. UNDAY JUNE q 1S78. I , I —; v . ^ Private dispatches received in Lon- don on the 4th inst., from Berlin, , tend to confirm the statements in re- gard to the existence of a widespread socialist conspiracy. It is surmised that both Hoedel and Nobeling were enlisted in this conspiracy, although neither knew the other. The centre ot the conspiracy is said to be in London, but it has branches in Par- is, Berlin, Rome and Madrid. The conspiracy has for its declared pur- pose, the destruction of monarchies, and the establishment of a universal communistic republic throughout Europe. Assassination, however, was not to be employed save in the first stages of the revolution, and then only in Germany ; and as Ger- many was considered more ripe for the revolution than any other coun- try at present, a beginning was to be made there. The fire once light- ed in the German empire, and there successfully burning, it would spread throughout Europe, and kings and princes...

A Talc of London Fust Life. * i f 1 NT <r < *>• ; V V' s4h> A 1 A 4 0 f -r * > The English satirist should be on hand with his note-book at the trial of the Bagot will-ease, now going 011 in Dublin, sinee it gives a graphic picture of a certain large and showy class of fashionable London society in which the personages of the story moved—at least such of them as could move—although they were in point of fact Irish gentle- folk. The case is an attempt by the young widow of a rich man to break his will. The pretense of station and title are what render this affair more strik- ing, t hough no more vulgar, than the Vanderbilt family history lately spread before the public, for the Vanderbilts aro of the shoddy class, with nothing Ancestral about their distinction, where- as the Bagots and the Verners are of an- cient lineage.
