OURDUTY, OUR PRIVILEGE. KiinsOoM A r\ i=-'i ,,111 It seems that all Texas is on a progressive crusade for good roads, good.schools, good public buildings, and with telephone lines and railroads traversing the state from Center to circum- ference, who wouldn't live in Texas? ; :: This is as it should be.. It was for Texas and her people, and that her wonderful resources might be fully developed, that the gallant 181 at the Alamo laid their lives on the altar of their country. Every drop of that patriotic blood spilled on that oc- casion, was for grand, glorious and imperial Texas, and that her people might free themsel- ves.ircrin the galling yoke of the de^potip "Napoleon of the West." It has come to the point in our social progress, that he who is able and fails to provide himself with the necessaries and com- forts of life, is looked upon, and rigfitly~so too, as being too penrF" rious tobe of síuch val ire. to the men| l| -moral and social ad vance- ment of our people. . - ¿ • THE ASPERMONT STAR Published Euery Thursday S. W. THOMAS, Ed. and Prop. Subscription. $1 A Year. harrison telephone number 13 Entered at the Postoffice at Asper- mont, Texas, as second-class mail matter. A railroad, a good court house and jail, good roads and bridges should put old Stonewall in the front ranks. We have the natur- al advantages already. The first bale of new Texas cotton is at the gin, and yet in the other states cotton plants are not big enough to make four messes of greens to the acre.— Houston Post. Wonder if the foreign papers which are always "slamming" grand-old-Texas, will note this fact? Well, hardly, we guess. Don't go to sleep on the court house and jail bond issue propo- sition. Remember July 10th will determine this most impor- tant issue, and if these bonds are defeated our people will suffer thereby. All in line now for that $30,000 bond issue for road and bridge purposes. We want it, and we only wish it could be made more. Good roads and bridge...

THE ASPERMONT STAR Publl«h*d Every Thursday S. W. THOMAS, Ed. and Prop. Subscription! SI A Ymt harrison telephone number 13 Entered at the Postoffice at Asper- mont, Texas, as second-class mail matter. In seeking the good of others, we find our own. A beautiful person is the natur- al-form of a beautiful soul. Whatever our place allotted to us by providence, that for us is the post of duty. God estimates us not by the position we are in but by the wav in which we fill it. Next Saturday, July 10th, will mark a great era in the history of Stonewall County. Shall it be for or against progression? Ask yourself the question and pon- der it well before you vote "against." He Didn't Mean It. We are funny creatures, we humans are. We call meetings to devise ways to keep down an overproduction, and when the drouth threatens to take the job off our hands, we call meetings to pray for rain. It is a case akin to that of an old negro, Uncle Rastus, who had a hab.it of praying every night for "de...
