THE POLITICAL FUTURE SHROUDED IX MYSTERY.— DIS- CONTENTED SECTIONS OF ANTI LABOUR PARTY. — THE TARIFF QUESTION. — INQUIRIES. — MR. FOSTER -S REMOVAL FROM THE CABINET. Melbourne. February 12. One may wander through the corti dors of Parliament House, Melbourne, the temporary scat of the Federal leg islature, and seek in vain for inspira tion as to what the poltical future may promise. He may sit on the top steps of the fine, sweeping front, and read all the daily newspapers, and still con vince himself that the one thing- need ful is lacking — namely, csact informa tion. Two days aco he was positively assured that Pratten and Foster and J. D. Millcn (tff Tasmania) were abso lute 'ccrls' in the Bruce cabinet, with quite an array of possibilities which would shame even a turf tipster. Now the result is known, all but one unop posed, and Foster. Pratten. Millen. House, and other possibilities and prob abilities have ...

CABOOLTORE EXCURSIONISTS. Last Sunday was a day of days for weather, and we doubt if a better could have been found -In a year, to Milt a crowd of visiting excursionists. THE MENACE OF PRICKLY PEAR. THE ROBERTS METHOD OF DESTRUCTION. [Newspaper Article] — Nambour Chronicle and North Coast Advertiser — 23 February 1923

THE MEHACE OF PRICKLY PEAR. THE ROBERTS METHOD OF DB STRUCTION*. It has been the custom in Queent land for some years to say that pricklf pear is spreading at the rate ol * million acres a year. He believed that Mr. Arthur Temple Clark coined thst phrase. Whether it is a correct eitl mate or not we cannot say, but Jt will soon have to be abandoned altogether. It will not be long, unless something be done promptly, before the pear will be in every district of the State, and in a great many of the districts of I«. S.W. We do not suggest that It rrtU lake only a few years to take complete hold of the State, but that infested areas will be found in every corner of the State. How long it will take the pear, unchecked, to push our som into the sea we cannot guess, but if we sit down and merely talk about the problem as we have done for two de cades, it will not take many years. We have had two outstanding work ers on the prickly pear pro&lem in Queensland. Mr. Arthur Templo Clark ...
