Adoption of the the TWO-Bushel Bag. [Newspaper Article] — Adelong and Tumut Express and Tumbarumba Post — 25 May 1900

Adoption of the Two-Bushel ' Bag. The first step in the cheaper handling of the wheat supplies of the colony has been taken by the Farmeis' and Settlers Co-operativo Association, and will come into vogue in the coming harvest. It consists of the adoption of the' two bushel wheat pocket, instead of the ordinary' sack holding four bushels/ The association named has' ordered a supply for next season's crop, and it is probable that they will soon be uni versal throughout Australia. There is not a very great saving in the price of the small bag, but it possesses the advantage that it can be conveniently handled by one man. The cost per dozen, at present rates, is 2s Gd, while the four-bushel sacks' 'cost 5b4d per dozen. There is, therefore, a. saving of 4d on e'Very i8, bushels of wheat. The smaller bags are also relatively: the lightest, for each one weighs 12oz., as against the corn sack, which weighs 2 Jib. When the bags are weighed as wheat/which is the usual custom, the farm.ers~wil...
