THE BEST TYPEWRITER. The number of new typewriting machines that are advertised is practically endless, and the money invested in signs alone onght to be enough to start a few nore rivals to the older machines. There are no startling novelties in typewriters, and the customer has a wide field to choose from. The prices range from 1 dollar to 100 dollars. There is even a * pocket typewriter' on sale, and another one which is called the light weight, because it weighs less than a pound. aBujifcli." I ah a clerk in the city, with a salary of<£70 a year. It is not much, barely I enough to live upon-I should have said to exist upon; there is a, difference between existing and living. | Something happened to me, however, last week, which has greatly affected my point of view with regard to life generally and it may not only help me, but help others to kno & about it. I was walking home to Bayswater, after an unusually tiring day. For some reason or other, everything had gone crooked from the moment I entere I till the moment I left the warehouse. It seemed so to me, at any rate; perhaps the secret of the trouble was the fact that I was unwell »nd wanted rest, and my nerves were all unstrung in consequence. I always walk to and from the city, I can't afford a 'bus, and generally manage pretty well; but on this particular night my feet were as heavy as lead, and my thoughts any thing but cheerful as I wandered up | Holborn and Oxford-street, and past |...
