The New Postage Stamp.—The 90 cent postage stamp has just' been issued. The centre of the stamp has the figure bi Washington, taken from a portrait painted at the time of his resigning his _^command of the. army. The; color of .the ground is blue. I The denomination of the stamps now in general use consist of one, three, ten, twelve;'twenty-four thirty and ninety cents. The postage, for the most part, on foreign letters not covered by the'.above rates,'are fifteen, twenty-seven and fifty-fotir, cents. A combination of the stamps now furnished will answer this necessity.

Death op an Old Philadelphian.— John Wilson, ninety_^one years of age, died recently at Zanesville, Ohio. He was _bofn a subject of the British government in Philadelphia, December 23rd, 1767, and was consequently an eye witness of, and to some extent an actor in, the stirring scenes which soon after agitated his n&tive city and aided in the war of the Revulotion. Mr. Wilson remembers with great distinctness and took much pleasure in narrating the early local history of Philadelphia and its neighborhood... He went West in 1806, and first settled in Pittsburg, but removed to Zanesville in 1817, and engaged at: once in his business—that of a carpenter and house joiner—-which' he continued to pursue with remarkable industry and energy until a few years ago. ifiTGol. Hugh Lindsay, well known as a showman of puppets, etc., died at his residence, in Lower Heidelberg twp._* Berks county, on the 23d ultimo, aged 56 years. The Harrisburg Patriot referring to his death says: "He must Have commenced his career as a showman at least forty year3 ago. We remember Miller and Lindsay as the. two shining lights of the first circus within our recollection, and that traveled through Pennsylvania'not less than thirty years ago. In after, years he went it on his own hook, traveling through the country with exhibitions of various kinds. — Anloilg his pupils in the show business, are S. 3. _Sauford, (his nephew.) Showeriski, Who broke- his neck by falling from a ropeiii the Frdnt Street Theatre, in Baltimore, Stout, Nagle and Shindel, the equestrians. .About a.year since he published a life df himself.
