His body wits buried in tho sand of the Platte river, near Edgcrton, on tho Rock Is land railroad. The Trositjent has sent to tho Senate the nomination of Benj. II. Bristow, of Kentucky, to be Secretary ot the Treasury, and of Wm.A. Richardson to be Judge of tho Court of Claims. Carieu Ecesc In a Cfenrck. There aeems to have been a great deal of sporrat tlie annual public meeting in connection with the Tastor's College, held recently in Mr. Spureon's Taber nacle. Tbe proceedings, says the Pall UallGa:ettc,i.xvnir opened with prayer, and the spsccbes having been delivered, a song called Tho Lifeboat' was sung by a gentleman who explained that it was sung in America, to endeavor to touch tuo hearts of hardened pcoplo who would not listen to regular and well known Irjinns. This admirable song, wbicb, it is stated, has a moral and reli gious termination, was a great success, and brought down showers of applause. Houston had been charged by Stanberry, a member irom Ohio, with defrauding tho Government in some transaction with an Indian tribe on the, Tcnncssco border. An investigation was roquoUcd, bat Houston could get no sat isfaction, and not willing to rest under tho imputation, ho inflicted a severe chastisement with a cano in the pre cincts of tho Capitol.
