The Fugitive Slaves. t . Yesterday morning tho Sheriff made a return on the writ of Habeas Corpus, that the slaves were in the custody of the U. S. Marshal, and therefore, without his Juris diction. This returned the slaves to the custody of the Marshal By a agreement with all, the parties permitted the slaves to remain in the county jail all day yesterday, with the understanding their examination should commence this morning. . Agricultural. Proper Mode of Yoking Oxen. It has often been made a subject of re- -mark, when conversing with thoso who have been helping us with ox-teams that the prevalent mode of yoking was not very well adapted either to the comfort of oxca or to their using their strength to the very best advantage. The heavy yoke and the bare bows, hav been unpleasant sights to U3, as they have always brought with them the impression of being uncomfortable and har assing to the poor animals which worked with them. It has always seemed, too, that some other mode of harnessing or yo king oxen might be invented, which would be less cruol and uncomfortable, at the same time bettor adapted to tho animal's using his strength to the best advantage. With such impressions long entertained, and adheared to nouo the loss for tho jeers and ridicule of some who have made them selves merry over what they call our excess ive tenderness for oxen, we were delighted a short time ago, in glancing over some notes...
