Shorno is sheriff; John C. Staser clerk; Lin coln- Laughlin auditor: C. L. Hoi comb attorney; T. W. Hanschild sur veyor and Cecil D. Linn county asses sor. A. W. Shaw treasurer and L. C. Van Patten school superintendent are their own successors. No dep uty ships have as yet been made except that of Mrs. Allie Copp, who will re main in the auditor's office. It now becomes the duly of every good citizen to uphold, assist and properly en courage the new officers in perform ing their sworn duties. Politics should be relegated to the rear, or if possible, forgotten, and we should take the view that the men now ad ministering the affairs at the court house represent a constituency com prising all the people of Adams county. ...LOCAL TOPICS J. L. Bronson has platted the town of Hatton and on Thursday sold six lots and has more applications. A heavy mercantile company from Gar field hare laid the foundation and will erect a large store building and do a general merchandise business. The Centennial Mill Company will put in grain iel«vators; a solid lumber com pany from the Sound is locating there, real estate men are going in. Nearly one-half million bushels of wheat war . shipped from that point last season. It begins to look like Hatton would soon become a lively burg. It has h splendid farming district to back it up and is getting nearly all the immigra tion that does not stop ot Ritzville. Wq are pleased to note the air of pros perity and the healthy boom that per vades that section of country which certainly has a bright and promising future. ...LOCAL TOPICS The Chinese were considerably stir red up over a robbery which occurred in their quarters Friday morning. Ung Hong who has been employed in the laundry of Sam Wo, was relieved of $340 in cash by Chun Go, a queless Celestial from Spokane. Chun Go was broke and his country men fed and sheltered him. In the morning he located Ung Hong's sav ings of two years, which was hid away in an old tobacco box, and left town on a west-bound freight. The authorities along the line were im mediately notified by the county sheriff, but the thief has not yet been apprehended. All persons interested in fraternal ism are cordially invited to the lecture to be given by Mr. E. E.
