DANGEROUS FIRE. SPLENDID WORK BY BLOCKI HOLDERS, What might have proved a very serious fir occurred at about 92 p.m, on Saturday at the No 1 subdivision. Shopparton Estate, on Mr WV F Ford's bleok, when a weatherboard dwelling of four rooms was eompletely destroyed, The contents were few in number, con. sisting of separator and "odds and ends" which were consumed in thalames, the origin of which is unknown. PERSONAL. -4-- A very old resident of Kotupra dis trict has passed away in the person of Mr John Boat, after a long and painful illness. Mr D. F. Thomas, Presbyterian missionary in charge of Violet Town, has passed his supplementary examina tian in Greek, and now ranks as a fourth year student in tihe Homo Mission course. Mr Edgar Davies, son of Mr ani .Mrs J. H. Davies, of "Claremont," Tatura, and whose articles withl Messrs Morri son and Sawers ternminate next month, has jJined the firm of Dunlop, Tatchell and Smalley, solicitors, Bendigo. He is to bhe stationed at Swan Hill, and will be admitted to the Bar early in March.
