The lightning fired many buildings, the clcctric light failed, and the city was in darkness. The panic was awful. Many towns in the States of Misouri, Indiana, and Illoinois have been destroyed, and fully 1500 persons, it is estimated have perished.

| Dramatic Entertainment. Ox Monday night a dramatic and musical entertainment in aid of the Churcft"of Eng land Building Fund, was held in the School of Arts in the presence of a very.. large audience. The chief interest in the success ful programme was centered in the tableaux which were most realistically presented. In the opinions of many who have witnessed such pictures in centres possessing larger scope for dramatic talent the .'tableaux were surprisingly well performed, and the hearty applause of the audience bore out this opinion.
