On January $1, Jenkin's Public School, at Billabong, was destroyed by fire, through a burning tree falling on it. At the inquiry held on Tuesday last, the jury returned a verdiot that the building was accidentally destroyed. ^ The bogie engine to be used in hauling trucks containing ihe rails to be laid along the Gun\x=req-\ dagai to Tumut permanent way is expected to arrive at Gundagai ; in a few days. Very satisfactory progress is being made with the driving of piles at the water openings along the line. Applications for seed wheat are being sent in freely.
