d CRICKET Gerringong won the final of the South Coast District Cricket conm petition on Saturday last, scoring 115 and 96, whils Jamberoo compil ed 8,S in their first innings and had the task of scoring 124 for a win. The Gongs however dismissed the last man with 18 runs in hand. Ken Robson played a fine fight ing innings. Opening the batting on the second day he and W. Boxsell carried the score from 2 for 5 to 59 before Boxsell was bowled when 17. Robsoh continued on -until the 7th wicket when he was clean bowled for 45. YOUNG CUP COMPETITION STARTS The first round of the. Young Cup competition commenced on RSatur day last and Shellharbour, Jambercoo, 'Pyree and Nowra teams were elinm hated. Albion Park defeated Shellharbour on the latter's ground' by S to nil.:. JAMBEROO v. BERRY:.. This match was played, at Jam' beroo and resulted in a win for the visitors by 6 to 5.. SFrom. the kick-off Berry had alightly the better of the game; Berry were awarded a penalty at the Roos 25 which McDonell missed. Thompson, Jamberoo's coach broke through with .the ball, on the toe late in the first half. but lacked support and a nice move failed. Berry at tacked and held play -in Jamberoo's half for the rest of the game until right on half time when Jamberoo cleared to Berry's 25. On resuming Berry had the Roos hard pressed for five mfiutes.
