John Garde Hussey being duly sworn, stated: I am sub-Inspector of police, in charge of ihis district; De fendant is a constable; one Joscpli Pearce laid a com plaint to me, that Ward had defeuded him of 30s.' arising out of a case at Bega, where he was charged with tearing defendant's trousers, and had to pay the above sum, when in reality Ward wore a different pair altogether at the time, which lie was prepared to prove, I told him that unless he made the complaint before a magistrate I could not attend to it, he did so and laid his complaint before Captain Llovd, J.P. The case has since twice been brought before the Bega Bench, but...
