St. Patrick's Sports Club. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club was held on Tuesday evening. Mr W. D. Mitchel occupied the chair and the attendance numbered about 25. The secretary read the minutes of the last annual meeting, which were confirmed. The balance-sheet for last year's sports was read and showed a loss of £5. It was received subject to the auditor's report, which will be presented at the first committee meeting. Mr T. Ruse was ap- pointed auditor vice Mr M'Kellar, who has left the district. It was decided to hold this year's gathering on 17th March Mr D. Crosbie moved that a mixed programme of horse events and footracing, etc., be framed for this year. He had that evening inspected a site in the depression that would make a good running track and suit them very well. They could run the meeting under Rule 33. The motion was seconded by Mr H. Tihe Wheat Mlarket. Since the opening of the new wheat season, business has been i almnost entirely restricted to the country. The comparative inac tivity of the wheat market in Me! bourne is accounted for by the fact that the real market in the earlv part of the season is, and has beein ior the last few years, at the country stations. The bulk of the .business consi:sts of direct pur chases from the farmers by agents of shippers and millers, and more pi artiularl the shippers, at prices which represent the full parity on the best biais of what is obtainable abroad, and often at a fraction be yond the parity, owing to the in tensity of the competition which prevails. One consequence of the competition to pay the extreme Srice to the farmer is that any margiu for city brokers or dealerrs to work upon is practically extin guished in the opening months of the season.
