The Agricultural Department has received the following report fornl Mr H.Stonpy, fo'reste in the Bairnsdale district, apon the settlement which has saken place. upon:the, Stoney,vBemm, Tamboon, Cann and Genoa Rivrprs: Snowy River, 70 miles from Bairns dale.--This is quite a new'-district. Settlementito a large extent has taken place dieing ihe last few years. It is-a .good river aind navigable for 'soimi dis tance up. Maize, hope, pigs, and cattle pare the' principal exporits: Schooners trade pretty regular. Ther? are large forests of timber, the principalof which are rinngyark, iorn bark, and wattle. A sawmill is erected close to the rivor, abut does' not do any:trade of note. The proprietors seem to be too elow; they have tendered for several' MelbO4ij"ie-' contracts, but failed to getaQy.
