MR GEO. FAIRBAIRN. [Newspaper Article] — Malvern Standard — 17 November 1906

MR GEO. FAIRBAIRN. Mr Fairbairn addressed a meeting in the Armadale social centre hall on Tuesday evening last, the chair being occupied by Cr Chambers. Mr Fairbairn dealt at length with the tariff question, and on the ques tion of parties he said he hoped to see a strong party returned to power -a party which would be protec tionist, anti-Socialistic, Liberal and progressive-a party which would combine all the best men from the Deakin and Reid followers. Such a party could, in his opinion, be formed, while a combination of either of those parties with the Labor party was impossible with the policy of nationalisation between them. It was tn be hoped politi cians would sink party quarrels, .nd nnite to form one which would be worthy of Australia, and make' this great country something to be proud of. Mr Fairbairn has also addressed meetings in other centres, his views ] on political matters being listened to j with interest.
