Tho most charitnble view to be taken of the matter is that a por tion of the trainees owning a morbid desiro for beer, and aggravated by tho heat, resolved to gratify tlloir desire, irrespective of order or disci pline. But it is the spirit which ani mated these men, and led them to oppose proper restraint and indulga in a riotous exhibition so that a pas sing wish might bo obtained, which is to bo most deplored. me (Siaruclt Ilcius AND plwwaat O.CC i (yiiViCUde THURSDAY. JANUARY S, 1011. Tue recent protest of the Stawell Traders' Association in conuection wiih our antiquated telephone ser vice is indeed a timely one. From tiiawell 10 Ballarat there is one line [o carry practically all th* 'phone requirements of the Wimmera, from B.-iliarat to Melbourne there arc six lines.
