TIHE PIESENTI APEIOTS OF TIHE NATIVE QUESTION. WTe have endeavoured since the arrival of tho last northern mail, to present to our own minds as we shall now ondeavour to present to the minds of our readers, the real aspect afforded by the momentous position of iative aff iirs. In the first place, the colony is again in a state of civil war. The armed neutrality which has. been prolonged by. feeble and vacillating counsels, is at an end, and the hosts are gathering together to battle. Lot us enquire who are our enemies. First, they are the Ngatirutnui and Taranaki tribes dwelling to the southwar.d of New Plymouth, who number in all about 2000 souls.. These may be looked upon as inevitably hostile. Of the section of the Ngatiwas who dwell all around New Plymouth, north and south, the number does not probably exceed 1,300; we have no special information what part they have taken in the late attack, but, unless they are satisfied by the. recent abandon ment of 'thei Waitara, they must b...
